Family safety check
Just a few gentle questions about your family's setup. No judgement — every family is different, and there's always something small that makes a big difference. It takes about 5 minutes.
About your child
How old is your child? (If you have more than one, think about the youngest who goes online.)
Different ages face different risks, so your suggestions will be matched to where your child is right now.
Devices
Does your child have their own device — phone, tablet or computer?
Their own device means full independence unless specific controls are in place.
Parental controls
Have you set up parental controls on their devices or accounts?
Parental controls include things like Screen Time on iPhone, Google Family Link on Android, or console family settings.
Gaming
Does your child play online games — especially ones with chat?
Online gaming is one of the most common places children first have contact with unknown adults. Games like Roblox, Fortnite and Discord are the ones we hear about most.
Social media
Is your child on social media — TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat or similar?
The minimum age for most platforms is 13, but we know many younger children use them. There's no judgement here — we just want to point you to the right guidance.
AI chatbots
Do you know if your child uses AI chatbots or companion apps — like Character.AI or Snapchat My AI?
This is one of the newest risks and many parents haven't heard of these apps yet. Even if you're not sure, that's completely fine — we'll help either way.
Screen time
How do you feel about the amount of time your child spends online each day?
There's no right answer — every family finds a balance that works for them. We'd just love to understand where you're at.
The conversation
Have you talked to your child about online safety — things like strangers, private information, or what to do if something feels wrong?
This is the single most important thing a parent can do. If it hasn't happened yet, that's okay — we can help you start.
Warning signs
Have you noticed anything that's felt a little off recently — changes in your child's behaviour, mood, or how they are around their devices?
You know your child better than anyone. Even a small feeling that something has changed is worth paying attention to.
Almost there
How confident do you feel right now about your family's online safety overall?
Be honest — there are no wrong answers, and however you feel is completely valid. This helps us point you to the most useful things.
Thank you for taking the time to do this
Here are some gentle suggestions based on what you've told us. There's no pressure — just take things one step at a time.
Your suggested next steps
💛 You're doing the right thing just by being here. Most parents find even one or two small changes make a real difference — and now you know exactly where to look. Your child is lucky to have someone who cares this much.
